Drone-based free ranging dog behaviour study

Free-ranging dogs are an important part of human-dominated landscapes, yet we know relatively little about how their social interactions are organised, how behavioural patterns are maintained, and whether their behaviour exhibits characteristics of norm-like regularities.

This research investigates normative regularities in free-ranging dogs: repeated, context-dependent patterns of behaviour that may be socially reinforced or associated with predictable consequences. Understanding these patterns could provide insights into how dogs regulate their interactions, respond to conflict, and coexist with one another. In the longer term, this knowledge may help inform approaches to better manage dogs.
